SAVING TOPHER'S EYESIGHT

Topher was brought to us as a stray dog.  It was quickly clear that his eyes were bothering him badly.  We got him an appointment with our regular vet and learned that his eye issues were considered an emergency.  He has deep ulcers in each eye requiring emergency surgery at an eye specialist.

His eyes could rupture at any moment.  Without the surgery his eyes were a ticking time bomb.  With the surgery he can save the eyesight in BOTH eyes and the surgery has a high success rate.

While the expense of this surgery is pretty steep we feel it's warranted because he can continue to keep his eyesight.  We could have opted for the cheaper double ennucleation, but that would make him blind for life.  He isn't an old guy.. Only 4 years old.

PONCH'S ROTTING MOUTH

onch was rescued from a hoarding situation. All dogs were seniors and small breed needing significant medical expenses.
Ponch is already neutered, but his mouth was full of rotting teeth. He also had two oral nasal fistulas.
An oronasal fistula is an opening or communication between the oral and nasal cavity. This occurs secondary to periodontal disease or loss of any maxillary (upper) teeth, most commonly the canine tooth.
A dental that would normally cost our rescue about $200 is now more complicated and expensive because his owners neglected the most basic care.
