Main Foster building
In January 2025, we completed construction on our 900-square-foot foster building, creating a safe, comfortable space for dogs as they wait for their forever families. The building is fully climate-controlled and features durable epoxy flooring for easy cleaning and sanitation. It includes 10 indoor/outdoor kennels, 4 indoor-only kennels for dogs requiring quieter accommodations or medical care, and direct access to four secure play yards where the dogs can exercise, socialize, and enjoy time outdoors. Every detail was thoughtfully designed to provide a clean, enriching environment while allowing us to efficiently care for the dogs every single day.

Our covered dog patio provides a comfortable place for the dogs to relax, play, and enjoy fresh air while staying protected from the elements. During the hot Texas summers, a misting system helps keep them cool, and the yard is equipped with premium artificial turf to promote easy cleaning, proper sanitation, and a safe environment for every pup.
Our meal prep area is where we prepare breakfast and dinner for the dogs in our care each day. It also houses a refrigerator for storing medications and special diets, helping us keep every pup healthy and well cared for.

We proudly display our lifetime kennel sponsorship plaques on each kennel as a lasting tribute to the incredible supporters who made our rescue center possible. Every plaque is a daily reminder of the generosity and compassion of our community.
Our covered outdoor runs provide the dogs with a shaded area to enjoy fresh air and outdoor time while connecting directly to a spacious playground mulch yard for exercise and enrichment. This area gives the dogs room to explore, play, and decompress. As funding allows, we plan to convert this play yard to artificial turf to further improve sanitation and maintenance while continuing to enhance the space for the dogs in our care.

Our outdoor washing station is designed to make daily care as efficient and sanitary as possible. This dedicated space allows volunteers to wash and sanitize dog bowls and easily refill fresh water throughout the day, helping ensure every dog always has access to clean dishes and fresh drinking water.
Shipping container kennel
This fully climate-controlled kennel was generously designed, built, and donated by Equipment Management Services, LLC. Their thoughtful conversion of an 8' x 40' shipping container created a functional space with six indoor/outdoor kennels and a dedicated bathing station, allowing us to expand our capacity and better serve the dogs who come through our rescue.

Our shipping container kennel has access to multiple fenced play yards, each equipped with shade structures to help protect the dogs from the Texas heat. In addition to their dedicated play spaces, we provide extra enrichment by allowing the dogs supervised off-leash time within our fully fenced 3-acre property, giving them the opportunity to explore, stretch their legs, and enjoy the freedom of a larger environment.

Our stainless steel bathing station was generously donated by Power Plumbing Services and has become an essential part of our daily care routine. Equipped with both hot and cold water, this versatile station allows us to bathe dogs as needed while also serving as a dedicated area for washing food and water bowls and refilling fresh water throughout the day.

Each kennel is thoughtfully equipped with a Kuranda raised bed to provide comfort and allow dogs to rest off the ground. Plastic dividers help reduce visual stimulation and kennel stress, creating a calmer environment for the dogs. The kennels feature durable garage vinyl flooring, which allows for thorough cleaning and sanitation while standing up to the demands of daily rescue care.

One of our favorite features of our shipping container build is the thoughtful use of high-set windows throughout the space. These windows allow natural light to flow into the building, creating a brighter environment while still maintaining the privacy and comfort needed for dogs staying in their kennels.
Dog Suites
Our two dog suites were designed to provide flexible, individualized spaces for dogs with unique needs. Each 8' x 16' building includes an 8' x 8' climate-controlled indoor area with a private attached yard, allowing dogs to have their own dedicated space while still receiving the care and attention they need. Equipped with mini-split systems, these suites are ideal for shelter or medical quarantine situations, helping protect the health of our overall dog population.
One of these suites is dedicated to our feral forever fosters, giving them a space where they can feel secure while enjoying more autonomy and choice in their daily routines. These dogs may never be traditional adoption candidates, but they deserve a comfortable environment where they can thrive.

Our forever feral fosters are lifetime members of the Sweet Life Rescue Center family. While they may still be fearful when people are nearby, they have found a place where they can live their lives on their own terms. Throughout the day, they enjoy playing together outside, soaking up the sunshine, and spending time in a way that makes them feel comfortable. Of course, they are always excited when mealtime arrives!

Each dog suite includes a private yard equipped with artificial turf and shade sails, allowing our dogs to safely enjoy the outdoors throughout the day. The suites feature doggie doors that provide the dogs with the ability to choose when they want to go outside, giving them more independence and control over their daily routine.

In January 2026, we completed construction on our main home with our forever fosters in mind. As part of the design, we converted our garage into a dedicated, climate-controlled space for our pups. The area features six walk-in kennels and durable epoxy-coated flooring, creating a functional space that allows our forever fosters to comfortably stay close while maintaining a clean and manageable environment.
